I was educated in Sonoma County and born into a family of educators. My mother was a classroom instructional aide and my father was a teacher. I have a family connection with Santa Rosa High School. My father, and his identical twin brother, both taught at Santa Rosa High School. I’m passionate about serving the community in which I have lived, worked, and raised my two daughters.
During my 35 years as an educator, I’ve thrived on helping those around me reach their goals and actualize their dreams. I started my teaching career in a small town on the central coast of California. I taught for 23 years and served as an administrator for 12 years. The last five years as a Principal in Napa County. I retired in 2019, although school districts call me back to help where needed.
I’m honored to serve as Santa Rosa High School’s Interim Principal.

I was born in Buffalo, New York, and was raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Go Steelers! I moved to Sonoma County while in high school and graduated from Santa Rosa High School. I have had the pleasure of working for Santa Rosa City Schools for the past fourteen years.
I started my journey working with at-risk children as a residential counselor at a Level-14 group home, then moved into the educational setting as a behavioral 1:1 assistant. I returned to Sonoma State University to obtain dual credentials in Special Education.
I started my teaching career at Montgomery High School in 2008 as a Special Day Class teacher for students that were medically fragile. In 2012, I became a Resource Specialist teacher and Department Chair of Special Education and returned to Sonoma State University to receive a Masters in Educational Leadership and an Administrative Services Credential.
My administrative experience has been as principal for Extended School Year for several years, as Assistant Principal at Elsie Allen High School, and most recently as Principal of Ridgway High School.
When I am not at school, I enjoy spending time with my seven children and grandchildren, in addition to hanging out with my daughter's home daycare: “Nuggets and Tots".
I am thrilled to be part of the Panther Family! I look forward to continuing to work with our amazing students, staff, and community in the coming year.

Hello! I am excited to be one of the Assistant Principals at Santa Rosa High School. I have been an educator for over twenty years starting in the bay area, later at Comstock Middle School in Santa Rosa, followed by two high school positions in West Sonoma County (El Molino and Analy). I received my BA in Modern Literature and Master in Education/Teaching Credential from UC Santa Cruz. Later, I earned an Educational Administrative Preliminary Credential from Sonoma State University and have completed almost two years towards a Juris Doctorate (Law Degree) at Empire College School of Law.
Having gained many diverse experiences from my career (both in subjects taught and schools where I worked), I appreciate the diverse and vibrant community that is Santa Rosa High School. I enjoy learning and growing alongside colleagues and students, as I always strive to be a lifelong learner and improve a little every day. What I love most about school is the community it creates as we embrace everyone for who they are and get to be a part of helping young people grow into amazing adults that make up the larger community.
Thank you for making me part of your community and let’s go Panthers!

I have many hats – Teacher, Coach, Outdoors Scout Instructor, Biker and Western Equestrian. I am a Navy Brat – which means my father serve in the Military, more so – the United States Navy, he retired with 20 years. After living in a state for about 3 to 4 years we would move, so I have been on the west and east coast and a few states in between. At the age of 17, right after high school, I too joined the United States Navy. After 20 years, I retired as a Senior Chief (ranking 8 levels since I joined). During the last 2 years of my service, I put myself through college to earn my BA in Math and a Teaching Credential. I started at Armijo High School in Fairfield, then Hogan High School as Assistant Principal/Dean of Students in Vallejo School District. With the gas prices get higher and higher, I wanted to find a place closer to home – Piner High School. I have been a teacher for 24 years, but 14 years were at Piner. Happily married to Andrea since 2011 and I have 1 son from a previous marriage and 2 grandsons. Currently Working at Santa Rosa High School as an Assistant Principal

It is my pleasure and honor to introduce myself as Santa Rosa High School Assistant Principal and one of the new members of the administrative team. I am excited about the opportunity to serve our students, staff and community in a leadership role.
My educational background includes a bachelor of arts in Spanish Literature and a minor in Psychology from UCSD. I earned a master’s degree in Educational Administration and my administrative credential from SDSU. Finally, I earned a doctorate in Education Leadership from UCSD focusing on high performing high schools and school districts.
My experiences as a teacher and administrator have been diverse and rewarding. They have prepared me for the challenges and opportunities of serving as a High School Assistant Principal. My administrative experiences include being an Assistant Principal in comprehensive high schools and middle schools in San Diego County. My teaching experiences include teaching all levels of high school Spanish including beginning and advanced placement. From these professional experiences I have come to appreciate the value of teamwork, collaboration, and open and honest communication with all stakeholders including students, teachers, parents and community members. My personal and professional values include excellence, teamwork, and innovation.
I grew up in Calexico California which is nestled against the U.S. -Mexico border. Calexico is located in Imperial County. I am bilingual in English and Spanish. Growing up in the U.S.-Mexico border allowed me to speak English and Spanish in the community and provided me with meaningful learning opportunities.
In my spare time, I enjoy long distance road cycling, hiking, and weight lifting. I also enjoy listening to podcasts on self improvement and health.
As we initiate our 2021-2022 school year, I encourage all parents, community members, and stakeholders to become involved with our school program. Our parent involvement and community outreach programs have exciting volunteering and learning workshops for anyone interested in learning about our school. Please feel free to visit our website for updates and to learn about our exciting educational programs we offer to our students.
By working together we will increase our impact on our students as we prepare them for their next step in their educational journey. I look forward to meeting all of you and working together throughout the year.
